TCM indication list according to WHO

List of WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO), a sub-organization of the United Nations based in Geneva, accepts Traditional Chinese Medicine - TCM as a full-fledged medical discipline and has published a list of indications for which the use of TCM is particularly suitable

 The WHO list comprises a selection of indications that can be treated effectively with Traditional Chinese Medicine :

  • Orthopaedic disorders

e.g. arthritis, osteoarthritis, rheumatic diseases, chronic back pain

  • Respiratory diseases
    e.g. asthma, chronic bronchitis, sinusitis

  • Allergies and skin diseases
    e.g. eczema, neurodermatitis, psoriasis, shingles, disorders of wound healing, hay fever

  • Digestive tract diseases
    e.g. acid reflux, inflammation of the stomach lining, constipation and diarrhoea

  • Gynaecology
    e.g. menstrual pains and pregnancy, fertility problems

  • Urological diseases
    e.g. bladder infections, prostatitis, incontinence

  • Internal disorders
    e.g. high or low blood pressure, diabetes, anaemia, overweight

  •  Immune system disorders
    e.g. susceptibility to infectious diseases and Colds

  • Psychosomatic illnesses
    e.g. sleep disorders, anxiety and stress disorders, stress, minor depression
